Have you checked your seals recently? If you don't regularly check the silicone seals round the bath/shower as well as the grouting on wall and floor tiles, water will eventually seep beneath the floor tiles in bathrooms. If this is allowed to continue for months, water will soak the wooden lining beneath the ceramic floor tiles and in due course it will leak through to the flat below or even several floors down to the car park area. If the matter is allowed to get this far, you will have a major and costly repair job on your hands since the ceramic floor tiles will have to be lifted, and most probably replaced, as well as the wooden lining beneath the tiles. It is therefore strongly recommended that you regularly check the silicone seals round your bath/shower as well as the grouting on the wall and floor tiles. It is also advisable to check the waste pipe connection behind the bath panel every so often since these too have been known to leak. If your flat is rented, don't rely on the tenants or the agent servicing your flat or the cleaners to alert you when there is a problem because more often than not they don't! If you want assistance with replacing leaking seals or re-grouting of tiles see here for help. |
